Mandibular advancement device instructions
Follow these instructions in order to make your mandibular advancement device beautiful and long- lasting:
Brush your device each morning.
Use 1/2 Polident or Novadet IP pellet for 10min, 2-3 times per week.
Do not soak in a liquid or chemical.
Always leave the device inside the box.

The jaw must always return to its normal position in the morning (about 1 hour).

If by lunch or dinner your jaw did not return to it’s original position, stop wearing the device and call us.
There may initially be pain in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) because of unusual movement. If the pain persists or increases after a few days, stop wearing the device and call us.
Don’t wear the device all night on your first night. Wear it one hour before bedtime, and if it is well- tolerated, wear it all night. Repeat the next day until it is well-tolerated.

If you have nausea, remove the prosthesis and try again the next day until it is well-tolerated throughout the night.
Once the mandibular advancement device is well adjusted, a sleep test will be performed to see if the apnea is still present.
Check if you are less tired during the day. If you sleep with a partner, you can ask if snoring decreased.
The lifespan of the device is about 3 to 5 years.
