Home Sleep Testing

A home sleep test should be considered if it has been prescribed by your doctor or if you suspect you may be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. If the latter applies to you, meet one of our sleep specialist to see if this test is right for you.

Home sleep testing, also known as home respiratory polygraphy (HRP), should not be mistaken with polysomnography (PSG), an In-lab sleep test. HRP is mainly used to diagnose sleep apnea and can be prescribed by your doctor or one of our sleep specialist. It measures a few physiologic parameters that are routinely measured by polysomnography, but it can be done in the comfort of your own home.

At Clinique du sommeil du grand Montréal, we use: Alice PDXor Alice night one.
These devices is no bigger than your cellphone and are recommended by sleep specialists.

How does this test work?

This test is performed at home. You will sleep two nights with the device.

What next?

After the two-night test, the monitor is brought back and a questionnaire is completed.
Data from the monitor is analyzed and interpreted and the results will be transmitted to you and your doctor. You will then meet with the prescribing doctor to obtain the diagnosis and discuss treatment possibilities if need be.
